A CALL FOR THE IMPEACHMENT OF PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH
The Amherst Democratic Town Committee calls for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney. We believe that the following crimes and misdemeanors warrant this serious action:
I. Invading Afghanistan and Iraq violated the US Constitution, International Treaties, and the Charter of the United Nations. Aggressive wars are international crimes of the highest order.
II. Ordering the National Security Agency to engage in secret surveillance of American citizens without authorization by the court violates the constitutional rights of all Americans.
III. As Commander in Chief, George W. Bush is responsible for the widespread torture of prisoners and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment by the Armed Forces of the United States. Such activities violate the Geneva Conventions and other International Treaties.
