Following Up on 603 Resolutions

Impeachment resolutions passed by cities or other groups are sent to the Speaker of the House's office. They are then supposed to be added to the Congressional Record and sent to the appropriate committee. This page has information on what happens to resolutions after they are sent to Congress. These entries were found by searching the Congressional Record.

There are several reasons why a resolution might not make it into the Congressional record:

  1. The resolution may only have asked that it be sent to certain representatives. It must also be sent to the Speaker of the House.
  2. The town clerk may have been asked to, but may have failed to send the resolution to the Speaker of the House.
  3. It may have gotten lost in the mail.
  4. The Speaker of the House may have thrown it into the trash.
  5. It may still be working its way through the system. It seems to take a few months from passage until it is entered in the Congressional Record.

If you have information related to what happens to a resolution after being passed, please let us know.

This table shows the status of various resolutions. The "Passed" date links to more information on the resolution. The "Entered" link points to the entry in the Congressional Record.
