Colorado
5/20/2006 - Colorado State Democratic Party adopts impeachment language in their official platform. Their #3 priority is "Censure and Impeachment - President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney and their administration have abused their power and appear to have repeatedly violated the Constitution. They should be investigated, censured or if appropriate, impeached.".
Further down in the platform details they say "The United States is in a crisis of failed leadership. We urge the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to fully investigate members of the Bush Administration and to pursue impeachment and further prosecution of the President and Vice President if it is found to be appropriate.".
4/30/06 - Scott Franklin from Nederland, CO reports "The resolution that we proposed here called for our Congressman Mark Udall to file articles of impeachment in the House. Although the Town Board voted against the resolution (3-3 tie), as a result of that effort, I got a call from our Congressman Mark Udall directly. Not surprisingly, he also took the standard, DLC line about this not being a good time since they are a minority and that it would distract and potentially alienate voters in the Fall. My response was that his, and the rest of his colleagues, inaction on the egregious and flagrant violations of US and International Law being committed by this President was alienating voters. I let him know that his and other Democrats unwillingness to hold this President accountable because of their political maneuvering was simply wrong. In the face of the illegal and immoral acts being perpetrated on a daily basis, there is no time to waste. I also expressed to him my concern about an inevitable attack on Iran between now and the mid-term election. An attack on Iran could potentially derail the return to a Democratic majority in the House and/or Senate that he has been so carefully safeguarding. He questioned my suggestion about an attack being inevitable. Sensing that our conversation was coming to a close, I urged him to take a leadership role, follow his heart, and do what is right."
4/11/06 - Nederland resolution failed by a tie vote. Arguments against the resolution included the standard "stuck with Cheney", "too divisive", and "this is not the right forum" arguments. Young Alexander Kinczel, speaking in support of the resolution, told the board, “The president should be the ultimate role model for children. Why would I want to be like George Bush?”
