Impeachment of Richard Cheney by Dennis Kucinich

Alert: Representative Dennis Kucinich introduced a House Resolution 799 to impeach Dick Cheney on the House floor on November 6th, 2007. It was raised as a "question of privilege" so that it took priority over other business. There was a vote to table the resolution but it was referred to the Judiciary Committee. Please contact your Representative ASAP and urge them to support this resolution.

  1. Please contact Judiciary Committee and ask them to pass HRes 799 or draft new Articles of Impeachment for Cheney. [email] [members] Here is a one page list of JC members you can print and check off as you call!
  2. Contact the major financial contributors to the Judiciary Committee members and ask them not to contribute unless the member supports impeachment.
  3. Please contact your Representative and ask them to cosponsor HRes 799.

News

11/6/07 - Kucinich introduces a HRes 799 to impeach Dick Cheney. There was a vote to table the resolution but it was referred to the Judiciary Committee.

7/1/07 - Johnson and Ellison sign on. McDermott announces intention to cosponsor HRes 333.

6/21/07 - Other staffer in Judiciary says HRes 333 was never in a subcommittee. We are trying to determine the true status of HRes 333.

6/20/07 - Staffer in Judiciary says "HRes 333 moved from the subcommittee to the full committee".

4/24/07 - Representative Dennis Kucinich introduced Articles of Impeachment for Richard Cheney. The three articles charge that Cheney:

  1. "purposely manipulated the intelligence process to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United States by fabricating a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction to justify the use of the United States Armed Forces against the nation of Iraq in a manner damaging to our national security interests",
  2. "deceived the citizens and Congress of the United States about an alleged relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda",
  3. "openly threatened aggression against the Republic of Iran absent any real threat to the United States".
